ABOUT PRODUCTID 30018
The Cathy Lies Bistro table, designed by Christophe Pillet for XO in the 1990s, is an embodiment of minimalist design inspired by the late twentieth century. Crafted from solid wood in a deep, warm brown with subtle reddish undertones, the table features a distinctive, radial wood grain pattern across both its round top and matching base. Its slender, tapering stem branches into three arms that support the 41 cm diameter tabletop, while a satin finish accentuates the natural wood texture without excessive gloss. The seamless transitions between elements highlight the purity of the form, with no visible hardware or joints, reinforcing a sense of visual lightness and cohesion. The table’s functionality suits it for use as a side table, nightstand, or compact coffee table. It remains in very good condition, free from visible scratches, dents, or signs of wear, with its original finish intact. This piece echoes the spirit of the 1990s, when French design sought balance between austerity and refinement. The table seems to whisper stories of an era when minimalist forms were a manifesto of modernity, and sculptural solutions did not require superfluous detail. The wooden surface, which shifts subtly in the light, recalls the ambiance of Parisian cafés and salons where natural materials met bold, architectural lines. In this harmony lies the voice of its time—simplicity carrying depth and a poised presence. The Cathy Lies Bistro table could be paired with an upholstered armchair in a neutral fabric to accentuate the softness against the wooden structure. It would complement a mid-century style sofa as well as a contemporary, pared-down interior, whether as a statement piece or part of a larger composition. Combining it with glass, stainless steel, or natural linen would enhance the table’s minimalist character. In
