ABOUT PRODUCTID 28932
This side table or plant stand by Hal Lei from the 1960s exemplifies Central European mid-century modern design, originally produced in East Germany (GDR). Model Art. No. 3251 – Blumenhocker is built on a triangular top with softly rounded corners, finished in a geometric mosaic pattern in shades of grey, white, and black. The tabletop is encircled by a wide, brass-colored metal rim with a lightly mirrored, aged finish. Three slender, tapered beech wood legs in a warm, natural tone are set at an outward angle, typical for the 1960s. The structure is sturdy, with visible joints between legs and top. The original Hal Lei manufacturer's label is preserved underneath, confirming authenticity. The table is in very good vintage condition – only minor traces of use and patina on the metal rim are visible, with no major damage or repairs. The piece echoes the voice of postwar Eastern Europe: it tells a story of an era when functionality and decorative flair met within the limits of available materials. The geometric motif of the top, with its measured rhythm, recalls modernist restraint, while the brass rim and beech legs evoke the warmth of daily utility and approachable scale. Every detail, from the gently patinated metal to the subtle leg-top joints, speaks in the practical optimism of the 1960s, when furniture was designed to serve reliably and retain its distinct character. The table may be used as a coffee accent beside a sofa, a plant stand in a lounge area, or as a decorative object in a vintage-inspired collection. It would work well in mid-century modern interiors with light-up
