This Northern European side table, dating to circa 1880, is a refined example of late 19th to early 20th-century craftsmanship influenced by Louis XV and Rococo Revival styles. The piece is constructed from solid wood in a warm, medium-brown tone with a rich, glossy finish. The scalloped, serpentine-shaped top is adorned with light, golden inlays forming a decorative floral and foliate marquetry border and a sunburst motif at the center. Both the tabletop and lower shelf are encircled by a delicate brass or bronze gallery, reinforcing the table’s sophisticated outline. The slender, cabriole-shaped legs are finished with subtle metal mounts at the knees and feet, enhancing the ornate character.
