ABOUT PRODUCTID 472
This teak sideboard, designed by Sven Andersen and produced in Norway in the 1950s, exemplifies the clarity of Scandinavian craftsmanship and the functionality of mid-century modern design. Crafted from teak wood in a warm, medium brown hue with a subtle reddish undertone, it features a satin-matte finish that highlights the natural wood grain and tone variations. The front composition balances symmetry and proportion: on the right, a column of six drawers with sculpted, wave-like fronts serving as integrated handles; the left and center sections house lockable cabinets with shelves in various configurations. The piece stands on slender, splayed legs capped with brass feet, introducing a refined visual contrast. The construction is precise, with seamless joints and carefully fitted hardware. The surface is smooth and free from visible traces of use or repair. The sideboard is preserved in excellent condition following full restoration. In this sideboard’s form, one hears the voice of Scandinavian modernism: pure lines meet organic detail, as if the teak—rich and noble—narrates a story of postwar optimism and devotion to craftsmanship. The undulating handles invite touch, while the satin surface diffuses light in a soft, warm manner. Brass accents at the feet
