ABOUT PRODUCTID 9952
This sideboard by Clausen & Son, produced in Denmark in the 1960s, is a distinct example of Danish mid-century modernism. Crafted from teak wood in a warm brown tone with a prominent, natural grain, it maintains the proportions typical of the era. The front features two sliding doors with sculpted, organically shaped wooden handles, while the central section comprises four spacious drawers adorned with bowtie-shaped wooden pulls—a hallmark of Scandinavian craftsmanship. The piece stands on four subtly splayed, turned legs, lending visual lightness to the form. The construction is precise, with invisible hardware and solid joinery. The teak surface has been professionally restored—smooth to the touch, free of visible wear or discoloration, and finished in Danish oil that accentuates the wood’s grain with a soft satin sheen. Condition: fully restored, with no traces of use. This sideboard speaks with the voice of 1960s Danish design: simplicity meeting thoughtful detail, the wood telling a story of harmony and functionality. The shape of the handles and the fluid line of the legs recall an era when furniture was created to be both practical and pleasant in daily use. The teak finish, with its subtle sheen, evokes the atmosphere of light-filled Scandinavian interiors, where material and light form a cohesive whole. The piece will work beautifully in mid-century modern-inspired interiors but could also serve as an anchor in more eclectic
