ABOUT PRODUCTID 28484
This sideboard from the 1960s, attributed to the German manufacturer Heinrich Riestenpatt, exemplifies the quality craftsmanship and thoughtful mid-century modern design of its era. The body features a warm, medium-brown teak veneer with a subtle reddish tone, highlighting the natural wood grain across the entire surface. The proportions are balanced and geometric, with two cabinet doors on the left incorporating rounded, integrated wooden handles, and four deep drawers on the right, each with sculpted teak handles. The top is finished in black Formica, providing a practical, scratch-resistant contrast. Delicate, black steel hairpin legs elevate the piece, lending visual lightness and a striking juxtaposition with the wood’s warmth. The drawers are crafted from solid wood, and the precise joinery and absence of visible hardware on the exterior underscore the high standard of workmanship. The sideboard is in very good restored condition, with careful attention paid to the authenticity of materials and finish. The sideboard embodies the spirit of German 1960s modernism, when functionality and clarity of form converged with a dedication to material quality. The teak veneer, satin-matte finish, and minimalist handles evoke an era where design was intended to serve everyday needs without losing its distinct presence. Softly rounded edges and harmonious proportions suggest a sense of calm and order—as if the sideboard quietly invites the organization of space, maintaining a characteristically timeless mid-century voice. This piece could be integrated into a Scandinavian- or German-inspired interior, working equally well in a living room or dining area. Pairing it with a geometric rug, ceramic vases, or a lamp with a frosted glass shade would highlight its lines
