ABOUT PRODUCTID 9880
The Sequence sideboard was designed by John Herbert for the British manufacturer A. Younger Ltd. in 1968. Crafted from teak wood, it features a warm medium-brown tone with a prominent golden undertone and a distinct, consistent wood grain. The silhouette is defined by clean lines, softly rounded edges, and integrated sculpted handles. Slender, tapered solid wood legs elevate the piece, lending it a light, floating presence. The construction is precise, with seamless joints and a satin Danish oil finish that enhances the natural texture of the wood. The sideboard offers four central drawers and two side cabinets with shelves, providing functional storage. Condition: professionally restored, with no visible signs of wear or damage. This sideboard echoes the calm voice of 1960s British modernism. The sculpted handles and gently curved edges reflect an era where simplicity and function coexisted with understated elegance. The teak surface, catching the light with its soft satin sheen, recalls the pursuit of harmony between craftsmanship and modernity. The piece seems to declare: “I am here to serve the everyday, retaining my balanced character.” The sideboard can be paired with a geometric sofa or a minimalist light leather armchair to emphasize its modernist heritage. It works well as a focal point in a living or dining room arranged in the mid-century modern style but also integrates into eclectic collector's interiors, especially when combined with vintage ceramics or a metal-based lamp. It is worth matching it with a neutral-toned rug and abstract artwork to highlight the warmth of the teak and the lightness of its form.
