This large desk inkwell, dating from 1910–1915 and likely produced by the Kayser manufactory in Germany, exemplifies early 20th-century historicist craftsmanship. Made from silver-plated pewter with an integrated glass ink insert, it features a realistically rendered figure of Dante seated and holding a skull. The rectangular base, with softly rounded corners and a raised platform for the figure, incorporates a flat, hinged lid ink compartment on the right side. The smooth tray at the front bears a clearly engraved commemorative inscription from 1914 in German.
