This layered glass snuff bottle from the Josefina glassworks, dating from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, is a refined example of Central European glassmaking. Its construction features a double-layered body: a vibrant, cool-toned raspberry pink core encased in a crystal-clear outer layer, creating a sense of depth and brilliance. The oval, flattened form (measuring 9 × 6 × 2.4 cm) is accentuated by precisely cut geometric facets along the sides, adding tactile and visual intrigue to the smooth, glossy surface. The original bronze stopper, complete with visible screw mechanism and a gentle patina, crowns the piece. A subtle Gothic-style engraving on the front—bearing the name “A. W. Wechler” (or Wechner)—lends the bottle a distinct historical and personal character.
