ABOUT PRODUCTID 11908
Designed by Grete Jalk for France & Søn in Denmark during the 1960s, this set comprises a three-seater sofa and an armchair. The solid teak frames, finished in a matte medium reddish-brown, showcase Danish craft through softly rounded edges, mortise and tenon joints, and gently angled, geometric arms. The slender, tapered legs lend a lightness and elevated stance, perfectly in keeping with Scandinavian modernist principles. Generously padded seat and back cushions are upholstered in a high-quality wool fabric, presenting a deep, muted green with subtle blue and yellow threads in a melange pattern. The tactile, slightly coarse texture of the fabric harmonizes with the refined wood, with no visible surface patterns interrupting its uniform but nuanced chromatic presence. Both the woodwork and upholstery are in very good vintage condition—cushion covers are newly replaced with no signs of wear or damage and all joinery remains original and precisely crafted. This set distills the spirit of Danish modernism’s golden age, quietly narrating a story of clarity, comfort, and hospitality. The confident yet understated forms speak in the language of Nordic conviviality: structure and function given equal reverence. Teak frames, stripped of excess, suggest lasting warmth and domestic intimacy, while the melange fabric evokes the dim light and gentle hues of Scandinavian landscapes. Everyday gestures here are invited to slow down, and the rhythm of mid-century modern life subtly resonates
