The GE-290 sofa, designed by Hans J. Wegner and produced by Getama in the 1960s, is a quintessential example of Danish modernism. Its frame, crafted from solid oak stained in a deep, matte black, subtly reveals the wood grain beneath, emphasizing the precision of joinery and the solidity of construction. The form rests on gently splayed legs, lending both stability and an impression of lightness. Characteristic of Wegner, the wide, flat armrests extend outward in a sculptural fashion. The upholstery, original and in a dark charcoal shade, features a fine, palpable texture. Both seat and backrest are divided into three equal, thick cushions that retain their resilience and shape.
