This antique intarsia-inlaid sofa, dating from the second half of the 19th century and originating in France, exemplifies the refined woodworking traditions of the late Empire or Biedermeier era. The frame is crafted from medium-tone walnut with a satin finish and adorned with intricate floral and geometric marquetry in lighter woods, creating a decorative contrast. The sofa features pronounced scroll arms, a gently contoured high backrest, and elegantly splayed legs. The seat is deep and inviting, with harmonious proportions further enhanced by two matching bolster cushions upholstered in the same delicate light blue fabric with an ornate gold damask pattern.
