This Murano catchall from the 1950s exemplifies Italian glass artistry, hand-blown using the sommerso technique. The solid bowl features an organic, biomorphic shape, rendered in deep emerald green which subtly blends into amber brown at the rim, while the innermost cavity remains almost entirely clear with a pale yellow tint. The glass surface is finished to a high gloss, resulting in a vivid reflection of light—a hallmark of the sommerso method, where layers of colored glass are encased in clear crystal. The piece is tactilely heavy and perfectly smooth, with significant wall thickness. An original Murano label confirms its authenticity. There are no visible chips, cracks, or abrasions, only small air bubbles typical to period handcraft. Preserved in very good condition.This catchall reflects the spirit of postwar Italy, when Murano glass became a symbol of international modern design.
