The piece depicts two seated figures—a man and a woman—dressed in period Victorian attire: the woman's dress features a bold tartan pattern in red, green, and orange, and both figures wear glossy cobalt blue jackets, with the man's vest painted in a vivid green for added contrast. Their faces and hands are delicately rendered in naturalistic tones, with expressive features. The background is adorned with raised, hand-painted floral and foliate motifs in green, red, and orange, while the vase openings are accented in orange.
