ABOUT PRODUCTID 4178
This large-format photo frame, dating from around 1880, is crafted from brass and silver-plated, exemplifying the decorative richness of late 19th-century classicism with pronounced historicist influences. Its structure combines solidity with ornamental finesse—a wide, openwork border surrounds the central photo area, featuring repoussé arabesques and rocaille motifs arranged in a lace-like, symmetrical composition. The front includes a glass pane to protect the photograph (17 × 12 cm), while the back features a movable support for standing display. The color palette is a cool, lightly patinated silver with subtle golden undertones where the silver plating has gently worn, the surface mainly matte with a gentle, natural sheen on the raised details. Dimensions: height 23 cm, width 18 cm, depth 12.5 cm. The frame is preserved in very good condition for its age—no damage, only natural signs of patina and aging that underscore its authenticity. This frame speaks with the refined voice of the late 19th century—a time when domestic photography was not only a keepsake but also an opportunity to celebrate artisanal craftsmanship. The openwork border allows light to filter softly through the ornamentation, casting delicate shadows below and evoking the ambiance of parlors where attention to detail reflected a household’s cultural standing. The repoussé and hand-shaped arabesque motifs echo the spirit of historicism, where reverence
