This sugar basket, crafted by the renowned Warsaw manufacturer Norblin i S-ka at the turn of the 20th century, stands as a refined example of Polish Art Nouveau metalwork. The silver-plated brass body, executed in delicate repoussé spirals, forms a harmonious, open vessel accentuated by a high, arched movable handle with decorative scrolls at the apex and joints. Its cool, silvery surface has a gently matte finish with an authentic patina, and the basket rests on a subtly flared base for stability. The original clear glass liner, with a cut geometric rim, enhances the gleam of the metal while protecting the interior. The underside bears the distinctive oval mark of 'Norblin i S-ka', 'Galf', 'Warszawa', and the catalogue number '2900', confirming the provenance and authenticity of the piece. Condition: very good, with only minor signs of age and a noble patina.This sugar basket resonates with the spirit of Art Nouveau Warsaw: the flowing metal lines arch gracefully, evoking an era when utility and artistic ambition merged at the dining table.
