ABOUT PRODUCTID 1984
This sugar bowl from the 1920s, crafted in then-Czechoslovakia, embodies Central European craftsmanship with strong Art Deco influences. Its body is formed from ruby red glass with a vibrant, warm, and slightly translucent hue. The surface features a matte, etched grapevine motif—clusters of grapes and leaves in a satin white finish that creates a tactile contrast against the smooth, glossy ruby background. The vessel is gently rounded, tapering slightly toward the base, and stands on a subtly raised foot. The upper rim is encircled by a silver-plated brass fitting, which, together with a simple arched handle, enhances the basket-like character of the piece. The sugar bowl is in very good condition—there are no chips or cracks to the glass, and the metal fittings show only minor signs of age-related patina. The piece evokes the ambiance of Central European parlors of the interwar period, where Art Deco details merged with the tradition of home gatherings. The ruby glass glimmers in the light like a captured drop of red wine, while the matte grapevine motif seems to tell stories of past harvests. The metallic rim and handle transform a daily object into a small ritual ornament—as if time slows momentarily over a cup of tea and a spoonful of sugar. This sugar bowl can be displayed on a
