ABOUT PRODUCTID 19918
This 19th-century Biedermeier sugar bowl, crafted by Fraget in Poland, is made of silver-plated copper. Its construction features a rectangular, gently rounded body resting on four cabriole-style feet, each adorned with detailed foliate and scrollwork motifs. The cool, silvery surface has a high-gloss, mirror-like finish, serving as a backdrop for the embossed decorations: a prominent floral ornament on the lid, and symmetrical rococo-inspired reliefs on the sides and base. Visible seams and joints reflect the artisanal metalwork of the 19th century. Condition: shows signs of age with numerous surface scratches, local tarnishing, gentle wear, and possible minor dents; the patina is consistent with the age and authenticity of a silver-plated antique. The sugar bowl embodies the quiet spirit of the Biedermeier era, where function met restrained ornamentation. Its smooth surfaces and measured lines evoke the modesty of 19th-century bourgeois Europe, while the richer floral and scroll details echo the sensuality of the late Empire style. Touching the subtly matte, time-worn metal, one can almost imagine the gentle hum of a historic café, candlelight glinting off the silvered surface, and everyday rituals gaining a sense of ceremony. This piece could be displayed on a classic dining table or in an antique cabinet. It may be paired with fine porcelain, crystal glassware, or even contemporary ceramics to highlight a dialogue between periods. The sugar bowl brings an authentic accent to historicist, eclectic, or collector’s interiors, and would also fit in a living room featuring warm woods and muted textiles.
