ABOUT PRODUCTID 3133
This crystal sugar shaker from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries exemplifies Western European tableware, combining refined materials with meticulous glassworking. The body is crafted from mass-colored crystal glass in a cool-toned raspberry pink, featuring faceted, vertically fluted sides. The cut glass is smooth and glossy, revealing deep color saturation, while the proportions are slender, subtly tapering upwards, finished with a thick, stable base. The domed mount is made of alpacca (nickel silver alloy), in a warm, slightly patinated silver. The pierced lid is adorned with decorative cut-outs and a small spherical finial, with the precise fit highlighting the quality of craftsmanship. The overall condition is excellent, with no chips or cracks and only minor traces of age on the metal. This piece echoes the voice of a transitional era, where late Victorian elegance met the emerging simplicity of Edwardian forms. The raspberry hue conjures visions of refined tables in historic salons, with candlelight refracting through the cut glass, creating a subtly theatrical effect. The intricately pierced metal lid hints at the artistry of past silversmiths—delicately aged, yet retaining its presence, inviting one to savor the quiet ritual of sweetening tea or dessert. The sugar shaker would be at home on a classically set table
