ABOUT PRODUCTID 21329
This crystal sugar shaker, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, exemplifies German craftsmanship in clear, neutral-toned crystal glass of high transparency. The body features dense, precise cut patterns—starbursts, rosettes, and oval motifs—characteristic of late Historicism and early Art Nouveau. A smooth, highly polished silver (800 standard) screw-on lid, hallmarked with a crown, crescent moon, and maker’s mark, completes the piece. Its gently bulbous, tapering form ensures stability and a comfortable grip. The shaker measures 15 cm in height and 7 cm in diameter. It is preserved in very good condition, with no damage or restoration; the silver shows only minimal, typical surface scratches from use. This sugar shaker captures the spirit of the fin de siècle, when refined tableware spoke of daily rituals and an appreciation for artistry. The cut crystal reflects light in shimmering facets, while the silver lid evokes a time when powdered sugar was served with care during afternoon gatherings. The vessel subtly narrates a story of elegance and practicality, embodying the decorative ethos of the turn-of-the-century Art Nouveau period. It would suit a classically set table, alongside porcelain dinnerware or silver teaspoons. The piece can be paired with crystal glasses or tumblers of similar cut, emphasizing its historic charm. Eclectic, Art Nouveau, or even contemporary interiors that value bold vintage accents will appreciate its decorative potential and understated presence.
