ABOUT PRODUCTID 28966
This powdered sugar shaker, dating from the late 19th to early 20th century, originates from Austria and embodies the distinctive qualities of Viennese glass craftsmanship of the era. The main body is made of clear, high-quality cut crystal, featuring a dense geometric pattern known as the 'Viennese cut.' The crystal surface displays a striking interplay of light and depth, while the upper and lower sections remain smoother and more transparent, accentuating the contrast with the intricate cut areas. The rounded, screw-on lid is crafted from nickel-plated brass with a mirror-like finish and equipped with evenly spaced dispensing holes. The overall design is precise and well-proportioned, reflecting late historicist style with elements of the Vienna Secession and early Art Nouveau. The piece measures 12 cm in height and 6.5 cm in diameter. It is preserved in very good condition—there are no chips, cracks, or signs of heavy use, and the original metal fitting retains its glossy surface with only minimal patina. This small object resonates with the voice of the belle époque, evoking a fascination with light, ornament, and the refinement of everyday rituals. The crystal cuts capture and reflect ambient light, casting subtle patterns across the table, while the cool sheen of the nickel-plated brass recalls the ambiance of Viennese cafés, where sugar was both a delicacy and a gesture of hospitality. The shaker speaks of an era when even the simplest utilitarian objects were designed with attention to aesthetics and longevity, as if every meal were a celebration. The sugar shaker may be displayed on a classic wooden
