ABOUT PRODUCTID 37809
This Dutch silver sugar spoon from the early 20th century is a refined example of classic craftsmanship, blending subtle Art Nouveau influences with restrained elegance. Crafted entirely from 833-grade silver, the spoon measures 12.5 cm in length, 2.8 cm in width, and 1.5 cm in thickness, with a weight of 19 grams. Its elongated, slender silhouette is defined by a gently oval bowl and a straight, narrow handle, achieving harmonious proportions. The surface is predominantly matte with a soft, satin sheen, most noticeable on the bowl. The most distinctive feature is the three-dimensional, openwork crown at the end of the handle, meticulously detailed with darkened, slightly oxidized recesses that emphasize its handcrafted finish. The transition between the handle and the crown is smoothly integrated, contributing to the spoon’s cohesive and balanced form. The overall condition is very good – only minor scratches and a light, age-appropriate patina are visible, with no significant damage or repairs. This small object evokes the spirit of an era when everyday tableware was elevated to the status of miniature works of art. The crown motif, more than just an ornament, serves as a symbol of prestige and harks back to a time when silverware played an essential role in family gatherings. The matte finish and graceful lines reflect the tradition of European table culture and the ethos of meticulous handcraft, as if the spoon itself were narrating the story of parlors where every detail carried both symbolic and practical value. The spoon can serve as a refined accent for a classic sugar bowl or porcelain bonbonniere, fitting seamlessly into historical or eclectic collector interiors. It may be paired with period porcelain, cut glass, or other silver tableware to underscore its provenance
