The 'Spaghetti' lounger by R. Henkel Ideal represents German design from the 1960s, distinguished by its white, matte-finished tubular steel frame combined with a classic seat and backrest made from closely-spaced, elastic plastic cords in a deep, subdued red. The powder-coated steel offers durability and weather resistance, while the signature spaghetti-style pattern of cords produces a visually light, breathable effect. The elongated, slender silhouette features a gently reclined backrest, ergonomically conforming for relaxation. Custom-crafted solid ash wood armrests, smoothly contoured for comfort, contribute a natural accent and soften the otherwise industrial flavor of the piece. Exposed welds and joints add a subtle technical detail to the structure. Preserved in very good condition, the lounger shows only light scratches consistent with its age and use; the newly added armrests, handmade by a carpenter, are visually and structurally well-integrated.In its form, this piece voices the creative energy of the 1960s: not imposing itself, but asserting its presence through daring color and openwork composition.
