ABOUT PRODUCTID 4460
This late 19th-century table bell, crafted in Warsaw around 1880–1900, is made of silver-plated brass with a cool, subtly matte finish and a pronounced natural patina. Its domed body is surmounted by a handle shaped as an intricately swirling plant tendril, forming a heart-like motif—an element characteristic of Art Nouveau. At the base of the handle, a rosette with leaf and small fruit motifs emphasizes the naturalistic style of the era. The edge of the bell features a delicate beaded border. The internal clapper remains original and complete, and the entire construction is authentic. The bell measures 9 cm in height and 6.6 cm in diameter. Its condition is very good, with only natural signs of age such as patina, minor scratches, and discolorations, and no cracks or major damage. This piece conjures the ambiance of late 19th-century salons and dining rooms, when the sound of a bell would summon hosts or invite guests to the table. The silvery, matte surface and richness of detail tell of an era where daily life intertwined with ritual. The swirling tendrils and rosette echo the Art Nouveau fascination with nature, while each mark of patina seems to whisper of past toasts and gatherings. The bell may be displayed on a console table in the living room, alongside antique candlesticks or porcelain curios, to highlight its historical character. It pairs well with period furniture or within eclectic collector’s arrangements, where its decorative presence is enhanced by plush upholstery, carved wood, or glass. It can serve as a subtle accent on a vitrine among other silvered objects, or as an intriguing counterpoint to contemporary accessories.
