This modernist table clock from the 1960s, produced in former East Germany, embodies a fusion of Space Age optimism and Scandinavian restraint. The sculptural body, turned from a single piece of warm medium-brown wood with pronounced grain, transitions from a bulbous base into a slender neck and then flares into a hemispherical housing for the dial. The clock face is made of brushed brass in a soft matte gold, set off by minimalist black hour markers and hands. It is fitted with a 'Cal. 55 – Made in GDR' movement, characteristic of East German timepieces from the era, most often associated with the Ruhla factory. The construction is seamless, with no visible joints, emphasizing both the craftsmanship and clarity of form.
