ABOUT PRODUCTID 31814
Table lamp model 11126, designed by Eric Kirkham Cole for EKCO Ltd in the 1930s, presented here in a licensed Czechoslovak production from the 1950s. Crafted entirely from deep brown bakelite, it features a high-gloss, almost mirror-like finish and a uniform color. The minimalist construction is defined by a streamlined, arched arm, a domed shade, and an oval base with softly rounded edges. All components form a cohesive, functionalist whole; the small black toggle switch on the base highlights the technical, restrained nature of the design. The lamp is free from visible metal accents and remains rooted in the aesthetics of mid-century modernism, strongly influenced by functionalism. Condition: excellent, with no cracks, chips, or visible signs of wear.Model 11126 speaks with the voice of its era: it evokes a fascination with modernity and the improvement of everyday objects through materials of the future, such as bakelite. The aerodynamic silhouette, as smooth as the surface of a 1930s radio, recalls a time when design aimed for efficiency and convenience while establishing a new visual order. This lamp resonates with the tone of the factory and laboratory, as well as the home desk—its light has accompanied work, reading, and generations of users. The table lamp model 11126 is best suited to interiors inspired by mid-century modern or minimalist industrial styles. It can be paired with a simple wooden or steel desk, a glass console, or a shelving unit with geometric divisions. It is worth combining with other bakelite or dark wood objects
