ABOUT PRODUCTID 42005
This porcelain scent lamp by Schauberg, produced in Germany in the 1930s, exemplifies late Art Deco with its pronounced geometric form inspired by period architecture. The lamp's body is shaped like a pagoda with a hexagonal cross-section, featuring a stepped silhouette and a ribbed base. Its surface is adorned with wide bands of cubist, multicolored floral and architectural motifs in blue, yellow, red, green and black. A matte, pale yellow zigzag band contrasts with the vibrant orange-red accents at the top and base, as well as the cool green of the vented lid. The porcelain is smooth and glossy, with detailing achieved through both transfer printing and hand painting. The lamp is equipped with a functional E14 socket and period-style electrical fitting. It is preserved in very good condition, free from visible damage, chips or restoration, with all decorations vivid and intact. The lamp’s form channels the architectural rhythms and bold color contrasts of late Art Deco, where stepped divisions, geometric transitions and ornamental patterning create a sense of visual order. When the oil reservoir is warmed, the lamp becomes more than just a light source – it diffuses fragrance as well, capturing the sensorial essence of the modernist past in both scent and illumination, and conjuring an atmosphere that feels intimate and tactile. This piece could be placed on a bedside table, console in a hallway, or sideboard in a living room. It may be paired with objects featuring clean, geometric lines or neutral matte textiles to highlight its decorative character. The lamp also works well against darker backgrounds, which accentuate its vibrant porcelain decoration. It can be combined with other Art Deco elements or minimalist accessories to create a cohesive yet striking relaxation zone, where light and fragrance become a personal interior ritual.
