ABOUT PRODUCTID 39068
The desk lamp designed by Egon Hillebrand for Hillebrand exemplifies German modernism of the 1960s. Its bold silhouette, defined by clean geometric lines, embodies the minimalist character associated with mid-century modern design. The deep, polished black of the dome-shaped lacquered aluminum shade contrasts with the mirror-finish chrome base and central stem. Proportions are carefully balanced: the wide 42 cm shade dominates the solid, round base of 22 cm diameter, ensuring stability and a strong, sculptural presence. The lamp features two E27 bulb sockets, a visible black power cord, and a round rotary switch on the base. It is preserved in very good condition, with original materials and finishes from the era and no visible signs of wear or damage. This lamp tells the story of German design’s disciplined clarity and innovative approach to lighting. Its body evokes an era when function and aesthetics merged in pursuit of harmony. The mirrored chrome reflects its surroundings, drawing the room into a play of light and shadow, while the deep black shade imparts a steady, composed tone. The lamp, like a reserved narrator, recalls the power of simplicity and precision, channeling the rational yet bold spirit of 1960s modernism. The lamp may be placed on a large desk or console in a living room, where its striking silhouette will act as a focal point. It can be paired with raw materials – such as matte wood, brushed metal, or minimalist ceramics – to highlight its industrial, modernist heritage
