ABOUT PRODUCTID 42000
The 370021/2 table lamp is a design by Josef Hurka, produced by the Czech manufacturer Napako in Prague around 1960. The construction features a cylindrical lampshade composed of two contrasting layers: the upper part is made of matte black lacquered steel, while the lower section is glossy white glass. The stem is crafted from brass-plated steel with a subtle texture and areas of gentle patina, set on a circular base combining matte black with a brass-plated ring at the bottom. The built-in pull-cord switch, finished with a small yellowish teardrop-shaped handle, highlights the lamp’s functional character. The design is marked by clean lines, balanced proportions, and the consistent, minimalist aesthetic of mid-century modern. The condition is very good – only minor surface marks and a delicate patina on the brass elements, confirming its authenticity and gentle use.The lamp quietly narrates the story of Czech modernism from the 1960s: its contrasting layers transform light into a soft, balanced glow, illuminating the space without excess. Steel and glass form a harmonious dialogue between function and form, while the brass-plated finish brings a discreet touch of refinement. Every detail, from the streamlined shade to the small pull switch, recalls an era when design followed the logic of utility and a subtle interplay of contrasts. This lamp can be paired with a simple light wood console or a minimalist desk, highlighting the modernist
