The PH 4/3 table lamp, designed by Poul Henningsen and produced by Louis Poulsen in Denmark during the 1960s, stands as a canonical example of Scandinavian modernism in lighting design. Its construction features a distinctive three-shade system crafted from matte metal in a warm white tone: the main, wide, softly curved shade is complemented by two smaller ones below, directing light both downward and outward. The highly polished chrome stem and round, mirror-finish base create a striking contrast with the matte white, reflecting the environment with clarity. A simple black switch on the base highlights the lamp’s functional aesthetic, while visible screws on the upper shade remain true to Danish construction logic. The lamp’s proportions—slender stem and wide, horizontal shades—are faithful to the principles of mid-century modernism, with every detail reflecting precision and careful craftsmanship.
