The PH 4/3 table lamp, designed by Poul Henningsen and produced by the Danish manufacturer Louis Poulsen in the 1970s, stands as an icon of Scandinavian modernism. Its construction features a three-shade system in warm, matte white metal: a broad, gently curved main shade and two precisely spaced smaller ones below, effectively diffusing light both downward and sideways without glare. The highly polished, chrome-plated stem and round, mirror-like base provide a subtle counterpoint to the matte surfaces, reflecting the surroundings and introducing a dynamic interplay of light. Visible screws on the top of the largest shade and a simple black switch at the base emphasize the lamp’s functional and technical character. The proportions—slender stem and wide, horizontal shades—are a hallmark of mid-century modern design.
