The PH 4/3 table lamp, designed by Poul Henningsen and produced by Danish manufacturer Louis Poulsen in the 1970s, is constructed around a tiered system of three matte metal shades in off-white. The largest, gently curved main shade is complemented by two smaller lower shades, all arranged to disperse light both downward and outward. The slender stem and round, mirror-polished chrome base introduce a cool, reflective accent to the matte surfaces. A simple black switch on the base emphasizes clarity of function, while visible screws at the top of the shade highlight the honest, rational approach characteristic of Danish design. The lamp’s proportions – broad, horizontal shade assembly atop a slim vertical stem – express the mid-century modern idiom, with every detail reflecting careful craftsmanship.
