The PH 4/3 table lamp, designed by Poul Henningsen and manufactured by Louis Poulsen in Denmark in the 1970s, exemplifies the essence of Scandinavian modernism. Its construction is based on a three-shade system made of matte metal in a soft, off-white hue. The largest, gently curved shade is supported by two smaller ones, arranged below in a cascading fashion, ensuring even light diffusion throughout the space. The slender, cylindrical stem and round base are crafted from highly polished chrome, providing a mirrored contrast to the matte shades. Visible chrome screws on the top of the largest shade and a black rectangular switch on the base highlight the lamp’s technical and utilitarian character. The proportions—broad, horizontally oriented shades and a narrow vertical stem—are characteristic of mid-century modern design. The lamp is preserved in very good vintage condition: only minor signs of use are visible, such as small surface marks on the metal and a slightly loosened base, which does not affect stability or functionality.The PH 4/3’s form echoes the calm voice of Danish design from the 1970s, when light was intended to soften and enhance daily life rather than dominate it.
