ABOUT PRODUCTID 34807
This table lamp designed by Stephan Tabera for OPP Jihlava is a distinctive example of Czechoslovak space age design from the 1970s. The piece is crafted entirely from blown, molded glass, with both the base and shade forming a unified, sculptural whole. The dominant vivid red surface features a high-gloss, almost mirror-like finish, while the interior is lined with white glass, visible at the open top, ensuring an even diffusion of light and enhancing the lamp’s warm glow when illuminated. At the very base, a subtle orange accent ring adds a discreet but characteristic 1970s color touch. The form is seamless, with smooth, flowing lines and a consistently glossy, glassy texture, resting on a flat, stable base. The power cord is transparent. The lamp is preserved in very good condition, with no visible signs of wear or damage, and features a replaced cord—ready for immediate use.The red hue speaks in the language of the 1970s, recalling an era captivated by new technologies and organic forms. Its silhouette, reminiscent of an hourglass or mushroom, reflects a fondness for fluid, futuristic lines and bold colors. When lit, the glass diffuses light into a soft, atmospheric glow—as if the lamp itself tells a tale of a time when design was a statement of optimism and exploration. The understated orange ring at the base pays homage to the era’s daring color palette, while the lamp as a whole appears almost as a sculpted vessel of light. This lamp can be used as a standout accent in a living room or bedroom, where its color and form become the focal point
