ABOUT PRODUCTID 27107
This table lamp, designed by Gino Sarfatti for Arteluce in the 1960s, exemplifies Italian mid-century modernism at its most refined. Crafted from metal in an ivory or warm off-white tone with a subtle satin sheen, the lamp’s cylindrical body and socket create a crisp, geometric silhouette. The base is wrapped in leather, stitched into vertical segments that introduce a tactile rhythm and visual structure. An exposed, oversized bulb completes the composition, referencing Sarfatti’s experimental approach to light and form. The lamp remains in original condition with the Arteluce label still present; minor discoloration and slight marks are visible, consistent with its age, but there is no significant damage – overall, the piece is in very good condition. The lamp speaks in the language of postwar Italian avant-garde: its pure lines and unpretentious simplicity reflect an era when design addressed everyday needs while preserving the courage of sculptural form. The stitched leather base hints at artisanal craftsmanship, while the smooth metal body softly diffuses light. The exposed bulb invites playful interpretation, as if the lamp encourages experimentation with illumination – it does not dominate but instead establishes a subtle dialogue with the surrounding space. It can be paired with a low teak or oak console to highlight the material contrast, or placed on a marble tabletop to bring out the depth of the satin metal and leather texture. The lamp fits naturally in mid-century modern settings as well as more eclectic, collector’s interiors – it is worth combining with sculptural vases, minimalist artwork, or chromed accessories that echo its shape and heritage. The lamp is fitted for a standard E27 bulb (included). Height: 24 cm, diameter: 10
