This Polish table lamp by Computex, dating from the 1980s, is constructed from painted steel and opaline milk glass. The slender cylindrical base stands on a flat, circular plinth and is topped with a conical collar, supporting a perfectly spherical glass globe. The lamp's body is finished in a uniform matte white that seamlessly continues onto the opalescent milk glass shade. A gold-toned metal ring at the base of the column provides a discreet accent, while exposed metal screws at the junction between body and shade reference its industrial, utilitarian design. It features a cord with a simple plastic inline switch and an E27 bulb holder. The lamp is in very good original condition, showing only minor patina and slight scuffs on the metal surface, without cracks or major discolorations. This lamp subtly evokes the spirit of 1980s Poland – an era when functionality and simplicity of form addressed daily necessities, and postmodern influences were conveyed through the dominance of pure shapes and homogenous finishes.
