This unique lidded tankard is an accomplished example of Biedermeier glass craftsmanship, created in Austria circa 1860–1880. The body is made of high-quality crystal in a deep, cool-toned ruby red, while the handle and lid are clear, offering a refined contrast. The vessel is distinguished by a multifaceted geometric cut that refracts light across its glossy, highly polished surface, enhancing both brilliance and color depth. The lid is topped with a faceted, knob-like finial echoing the geometric motif, and the base features a starburst rosette visible through the glass. Its proportions are harmonious, with a gently tapering cylindrical form and a robust, ergonomically curved handle ensuring comfort in use. The tankard is preserved in very good condition, free from chips, cracks, or visible signs of wear.The spirit of Austrian Biedermeier is present in this glass: restraint in ornamentation, a pursuit of harmony and practicality, accompanied by an understated touch of luxury.
