This Biedermeier tea caddy from Prussia, dating to 1850–1880, is crafted from layered ruby glass with a cool, saturated red hue and delicate tonal transitions that shift with glass thickness and the angle of light. Its rectangular plan, beveled edges, and flat polished surfaces reflect the clear, geometric language of the Biedermeier era. The faceted, rosette-shaped stopper is precisely cut, emphasizing the artisan's attention to detail. The body is adorned with hand-engraved classical arabesques, stylized birds, and medallions inscribed with the names of Prussian towns—the matte finish of these engravings contrasts with the glass's high gloss.
