ABOUT PRODUCTID 1598
This Biedermeier tea caddy from Prussia, dating to 1850–1880, is crafted from layered ruby glass, its hue shifting from a saturated, deep red to lighter tones depending on the thickness and angle of incident light. The vessel is shaped as a rectangular decanter, with beveled edges and smooth, flat surfaces—proportions characteristic of the Biedermeier style, which valued clarity and restrained geometry. The faceted stopper is rosette-shaped and precisely cut, while the body is adorned with artistic engravings: classical arabesques, stylized birds, and medallions inscribed with the names of contemporary Prussian tourist destinations. The engraving features a matte, silky finish, providing contrast against the glass’s high-gloss background. The tea caddy is preserved in excellent condition, showing only minor age-consistent surface marks typical of mid-19th-century objects, with no chips or cracks. This piece resonates with the voice of the Biedermeier era: utilitarian function meets
