ABOUT PRODUCTID 30269
The three-seater sofa Model 4853 was designed by Børge Mogensen in collaboration with Tage Kristensen in Denmark during the 1950s. Its form is rooted in mid-century modern and minimalist aesthetics: an elongated, low-slung silhouette, geometric proportions, and a consistently pared-down design. The base consists of two substantial solid oak sled legs, set back from the seat’s edge, creating the impression that the sofa floats above the floor. The light grey, matte upholstery features a tightly woven surface with a subtle, slightly velvety texture, stretched over a structure with precise seams and a cohesive, compact form. The gently rounded armrests transition seamlessly into the backrest, enhancing both coherence and comfort. The sofa has undergone complete upholstery restoration and the oak elements have been refinished—every surface appears fresh and free from signs of wear or discoloration. Condition: professionally restored, with no visible signs of use. This sofa embodies the discreet elegance of the 1950s, evoking the spirit of Scandinavian modernism where form and comfort are kept in perfect balance. Its light upholstery and recessed oak legs make it appear to hover just above the floor, recalling the lightness and rationality of Danish design. The interplay of cool grey with warm oak tones tells a story of an era when simplicity became the new sophistication, and every detail had its place and purpose. There is a sense of restraint here, but also an openness to daily gatherings, conversations, or moments of calm.Model 4853 will suit interiors inspired by mid-century modern or contemporary minimalism—it can be paired with a geometric coffee table in light wood or glass, and
