ABOUT PRODUCTID 9385
This three-seater sofa, designed by Gerhard Berg for the Norwegian manufacturer Hjelle in the 1960s, exemplifies the Scandinavian mid-century modern aesthetic. Its frame is constructed from teak wood in a medium-brown, satin finish, visible on the precisely crafted base and slender, slightly splayed legs. The seat and three separate, plush back cushions are newly upholstered in a rich, mustard yellow fabric; the upholstery features a subtly textured weave with a matte appearance, adding tactile and visual depth. The organic, softly rounded armrests and discreet joinery highlight the standard of craftsmanship. Generous seating space and the substantial, springy cushions ensure comfort, while the sofa’s proportions and detailing reflect the era’s design values. Condition: fully restored with new upholstery and refinished wood, showing no visible signs of wear or use. The form of this sofa tells the story of Nordic restraint from the 1960s: gentle curves and measured proportions evoke interiors where function and everyday
