This floor lamp by Tommaso Barbi from the 1970s is a sculptural realization of Italian modernism, blending organic motifs with precise craftsmanship. Crafted mainly from polished brass, the lamp’s structure consists of three slender, curving stems topped with oversized stylized leaf shades. The main body and spherical base display a high-gloss finish, reflecting light with a warm golden luster, while the leaves have a delicately textured, matte hammered surface mimicking natural veining and botanical irregularities. Each leaf conceals a light source and features artisanally soldered joints, emphasizing the lamp's handcrafted character. Stability is provided by a hefty, round pedestal made of pale grey marble with subtle veining. The original cord and switch are present. Condition: the lamp shows visible signs of age, with natural patina, scratches, tarnish, and localized discoloration on the brass, as well as faint handling marks on the marble base.
The lamp’s form expresses a dialogue with nature during Italy’s design boom: the 1970s here evoke an era where organic inspiration met playfulness in scale and light. The exaggerated, individually modeled leaves freeze the gesture
