This Art Nouveau toothpick holder, dating from around 1900 and attributed to the Kölner Werkstatte in Cologne, features a cylindrical body measuring 10 cm in length and 3 cm in diameter. The body is crafted from clear, cool-toned crystal glass, polished to a high gloss that accentuates its transparency and reflective qualities. Two symmetrical, shallow concave indentations in the central part of the cylinder facilitate ergonomic access to the contents. Both ends are capped with silver-plated metal fittings finished to a mirror shine, reinforcing the structure and adding a decorative accent. The holder rests on four small, spherical metal feet that gently elevate it above the surface and ensure stability. The precise joining of glass and metal, along with the absence of visible wear, attests to the high standard of craftsmanship.
