The collectible Oberek Totem from the PLĄSY POLSKIE collection was created as a result of collaboration between Asia Pietrzyk and Totem Studio Warsaw. “Pląsy Polskie” is a limited edition of collectible Totems, which is the result of cooperation between two artists – Asia Pietrzyk and Koka Skowrońska from Totem Studio Warsaw. The project, inspired by Zofia Stryjeńska’s “Polish Dances”, nostalgically returns to the 1920s and presents minimalist interpretations of selected Polish dances in a non-standard way. This time, the dances oberek, mazur, krakowiak, and kujawiak are reflected not in the form of illustrations – as in Stryjeńska’s works – but in geometry, color schemes, and striped patterns, which are the main motif of the sculptures from the “Pląsy Polskie” collection. As a result of this collaboration, a collection of artistic Totems was created, consisting of twenty hand-painted and numbered objects. Each of them tells a different, dynamic, almost vibrating dance, captured in a static form.
