This late 19th-century Art Nouveau travel clock, attributed to Paul Prüfer of Görlitz, exemplifies utilitarian craftsmanship blending late Art Nouveau with early geometric modernism. Its compact, rectangular case with softly rounded corners is crafted from brass coated in warm, reddish copper. The surface features a satin sheen with natural patina and gentle wear, especially on the edges and handle. Gold-toned accents—a finely rounded bezel, gracefully arched handle with spherical finials, and four small ball feet—contrast subtly with the copper body. The dial, matte and muted gold, displays bold black numerals in an Art Deco style with a 24-hour scale, complemented by slender, dark hands. A beveled glass protects the face, enhancing the sense of refinement. The construction stands out for its precise corner joints and meticulous metalwork.
