This 1960s umbrella stand epitomises Austrian mid-century modern design, bringing together matte black perforated sheet metal with warm, satin-finished brass in a refined combination of function and form. A solid, circular cast iron base provides stability and visual grounding, while the main brass shaft is crowned by a handle with a rounded loop, partially wrapped in a coiled black material—an industrial, period-accurate detail that enhances grip and adds subtle retro flair. Two V-shaped sections of perforated metal form the structure, lending an airy, semi-transparent quality to the stand and ensuring it serves as both utilitarian and decorative. The metal surfaces show a soft, controlled sheen, intentionally understated rather than highly reflective.
