ABOUT PRODUCTID 16857
This 1930s vanity set, produced by the renowned Rupel Boom glassworks in Belgium, comprises a bottle with a stopper and a lidded container. Each piece is crafted from transparent, glossy glass, sculpted into a precise conical form with widely flared bases that taper elegantly upward. The glass surfaces are adorned with dense, horizontal ribbing that creates a graphic rhythm and enhances the diffusion of light. Bold gold bands accentuate the set’s widest areas, while golden accents also enrich the tips and collars. The lids and stopper feature spiral, sculptural handles, each highlighted with gilding. The gold decoration shows subtle, age-appropriate wear, yet the glass itself is free from damage or loss. Condition is described as good: the gilding bears gentle signs of use, with no chips or cracks in the glass. The form of these vessels distinctly echoes the spirit of the Art Deco era: energetic lines, assertive geometry, and gleaming gold express a modernist luxury characteristic of European design from the 1930s. These are objects that seem to remember the soft rituals of daily life in a bygone world; the spiral handles capture and refract light as if poised for the opening of an elegant ball, while the interplay of illumination across the ribbed surface casts a subtle glow around them.
