This substantial ceramic vase from the Amphora manufactory, crafted in Czechoslovakia circa 1920, embodies the late Viennese geometric Secession style. The form is oviform and commanding, standing 37.5 cm tall with a 20 cm wide base, asserting a distinctly decorative presence. Matte, stippled surfaces in soft rose and powder violet contrast with the deep ultramarine gloss of the handles, rim, and base. The centerpiece is an applied, hand-painted medallion depicting a stylized figure—likely a king or sage—in subdued ochre, beige, brown, and white, framed with bands of muted reds and whites, flanked by gilded stars and geometric friezes in teal and green that recall Secessionist iconography. The transitions between matte textures and lustrous glazes are expertly executed, with seamless joins attesting to Amphora’s artisanal skill.
