ABOUT PRODUCTID 3980
This Art Deco crystal vase, designed by Karel Palda in the 1930s and crafted in the Czech Hadia glassworks, features a deep, saturated cobalt blue core encased within a thick, clear crystal layer. The geometric style is accentuated by bold black panels forming sharp, triangular motifs on each side, intersected with precise, linear cuts in the crystal. The high-gloss surface enhances the clarity and brilliance of the material, while the vase’s perfectly spherical silhouette, with a small flat base and narrow circular opening, reflects the period’s fascination with symmetry and architectural rhythm. Measuring 14 cm in height and 15 cm in width, the vase is in excellent condition, with no chips, cracks, or signs of wear; all original decorative elements remain intact. This piece gives voice to the modernism of the 1930s, when Art Deco celebrated symmetry, contrast, and a bold architectural sensibility. The decisive form, striking color palette, and geometric cuts speak of an era confident in progress and precision, while simultaneously exploring the interplay of light across faceted glass. The crystal mass, seemingly caught mid-motion, evokes the refined interiors of the time—spaces where luxury was balanced by discipline and compositional rigor. The vase can be displayed on a low console of dark wood, where the contrast of colors and textures will highlight its architectural presence. It would also work well alongside minimalist ceramics or a single graphic branch that won’t overpower the geometric motifs of the glass. Interiors styled in Art Deco, modernism, or eclectic collector’s salons are natural contexts for this form; pairing it with metallic accents or a mirrored tabletop will further accentuate the play of light across the crystal’s surface.
