ABOUT PRODUCTID 1718
This Art Deco vase, designed by Karel Palda in 1930s Czechoslovakia, is a testament to the era's refined glassmaking. Crafted from high-quality crystal, combining both clear and uranium glass, it features a cool transparency with a subtle yellow-green hue—an effect distinctive to uranium glass. The bold, V-shaped geometric motif in deep black enamel stands out on the faceted surface, its sharp, precise lines emblematic of modernist design. The vase has wide, low proportions, an oval opening, and a thick, stable base, all finished with a highly polished sheen and crisply defined edges. Measuring 14.5 cm in height, 17.5 cm in width, and 9 cm in length, the piece remains in excellent condition, free from chips, cracks, or visible wear. The vase resonates with the spirit of the 1930s, when geometry and material luxury fused in objects of everyday artistry. Its faceted, angular surfaces capture and refract light, producing a dynamic interplay of shadow, while the uranium glass subtly glows under certain lighting, lending an almost ethereal quality. The black enamel decoration speaks of a fascination with symmetry and contrast—evoking a time when modernity went hand in hand with bold experimentation. This piece seems to echo the stories of modernist interiors and luminous salons of Central Europe’s past. Placed on a low console of dark wood or marble, the vase’s transparent body accentuates the surface beneath. It can be paired with metal candlesticks or minimalist ceramics to highlight its geometric austerity. Well-suited to Art Deco-inspired settings, it also fits seamlessly into eclectic, collector’s interiors where contrasts of material and period take center stage. In soft lighting and against neutral tones, the uranium glass emits a gentle glow, quietly becoming the focal point of the room.
